With more than 20 years of experience as a front-end webdeveloper, I can participate in many aspects of developing web applications. From small widget to super fast interfaces for (Navy) ships to high-traffic websites such as Telegraaf.nl, Comparable.nl, Leadingcourses.com, viaBOVAG.nl and ANWB.nl.
Furthermore, I love to roll up my sleeves and when there are questions from colleagues, I like to help them a step further but not by taking the keyboard out of their hands. I like to help my colleagues on their way so that they become better professionals. I am structured by nature, I like to deliver my code neatly, in a neat git repository, although if the pressure is on, I can easily create a tech-debt story for the next sprint and be more pragmatic. Sometimes something just has to go live, but even then, accessibility (a11y) is important. In recent years, I have seen many different frameworks and have gained a lot of experience with them. I have extensive experience with Angular 2 and 9, I dived deep into Vue and developed a few management tools with it. In the end, I stuck to React and Next.js for various reasons and gained a lot of experience with them, including internationalisation (i18n). I am also a fan of a well-designed CI/CD environment. Setting it up can be difficult, but ultimately it saves many man hours of work. I have a good eye for design and have been working with Photoshop since 2004. In the years since, I have also gained extensive experience with Illustrator and InDesign, and now also with Figma. Besides design, I also have a lot of experience in the UX field.
My interests lie mainly in the "clickable part", the front end of the website. That is, from the architecture of the application and its connection to an API to building components in a solid way.
I have a soft spot for e-commerce sites. It is a special challenge to achieve the best possible conversion with the least possible effort. But in a sustainable way.
In addition, training a junior developer in the project is one of the things I find very cool to do. I've done this many times in the past, coaching trainees but also junior developers or back-end developers who want to be included in front-end development.
I prefer to work remotely. During the covid pandemic, I provided a particularly good workplace where I can work extremely well and above all efficiently. Of course it is no problem to come to the office with some regularity, personal contact is very useful for the team spirit.
